Between civilisation and untouched wilderness
Sarek National Park in Sweden is often regarded as one of the oldest established wilderness reserves in Europe, dating back to 1909, making it among the earliest protected areas on the continent. While it's not officially termed a "national park" in the traditional sense, its establishment as a nature reserve predated many other similar conservation areas in Europe. Sarek is indeed a significant and ancient protected wilderness area known for its rugged beauty and preservation efforts.
